Fighting for Hailey Park
The local community of Llandaff North was contacted in December 2021 by DwrCymru Welsh Water (DCWW) who wanted to build a sewage pumping station in Hailey Park – this was to deal with sewage from a development of 7000 houses miles away at Plasdwr.
Many residents, including Llandaff North Residents Association, Rebelmams (not forgetting the Rebel Kids) and Friends of Hailey Park, campaigned to stop this project even though planning application had been agreed (September 2022) and council seemingly have leased the land for it too. Cardiff Council granted planning permission for sewage to be pumped from Plasdwr to Llandaff North, and for a sewage pumping station to be built on Hailey Park – all without demanding a drainage and sewerage strategy be in place (i.e. a hydraulic modelling assessment and an environmental impact assessment). We also think that this option is not the best for Cardiff, and that DCWW should invest in better infrastructure on the Plasdwr side of the river: pumping it to Hailey Park is the cheapest option and is all about maximizing profits for the developer. We still have many questions and concerns over transparency surround this project. So let's look at the facts and see original plans and planning decision submitted HERE |
