Fighting for Hailey Park
Welsh Water (WW) want to build a sewage pumping station in Hailey Park to deal with sewage from a development of 7000 houses miles away at Plasdwr.

Many residents, including Llandaff North Residents Association, Rebelmams (not forgetting the Rebel Kids) and Friends of Hailey Park, are campaigning to stop this project even though planning application has been agreed and council seemingly have leased the land for it too.

We also think that this option is not the best for Cardiff, and that WW should invest in better infrastructure on the Plasdwr side of the river: pumping it to Hailey Park is the cheapest option and is all about maximizing profits for the developer.

We still have many questions and concerns over transparency surround this project. So let's look at the facts and see original plans and planning decision submitted HERE

  • Once a precedence is set, what is next for more developments like this on the park (or any park in Cardiff for that matter), particularly as an FOI has shown that it will already be 20% over threshold. Does this mean more work may be done to increase this capacity?
  • The lifetime of this station is suggested to be 15 years. Does this mean more development of this kind and larger?
  • Disregard for residents and park users – lack of transparency and feeling that parkland is an easy option at a time when greenspace should be at the top of the agenda.
  • WW pursued 4 other options, including Plasdwr itself. Is this all about developers saving money?
  • We are running out of time to stop this so please sign our new petition (calling on Cardiff Council to reverse its decision to lease Hailey park land for a sewage pumping station. Details HERE on this website, and petition is HERE and we are fundraising for legal fees and need donations or can you fundraise in other ways?
